Pastor Todd

Senior Pastor

Pastor Todd was born in Columbus, Ohio. He lived there until, at the age of five, his father was transferred to Orange County, California. He was raised in a loving and supportive Christian home. He has also lived in Kansas and Texas, although he loves San Diego as much as anywhere else.

At the age of four, Todd placed his faith in Jesus Christ during a morning Sunday School class. He was baptized at age eight. During the summer between his ninth and tenth grade years, he accepted God’s call to full time ministry. He continued his pursuit through Whittier Christian High School and Biola University, and received his masters at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

He served for 11 years in full time youth ministry. His past 15 years have been as a Senior Pastor. Todd came to Bethel in 2008, where he currently serves as the Senior Pastor.

Todd is married to Dina, and they have four children. Todd is an avid reader, enjoys woodworking and computers. He enjoys athletic activities and loves to geek out on his favorite comic book and sci-fi characters.

Pastor Mike & Heather

Youth Pastors

Mike and Heather Brown found each other as two crazy teenagers and fell in love **insert barf bag. They have been married for 18 years and have three amazing kids. Together, they have enjoyed the joys of youth ministry for 12 years, and now get the fulfillment of having their own kids in their ministry. Mike also works full time at FICO while Heather stays home with the kids and home schools part time.

Mike's ideal day off would be hanging out at home just being chill, while Heather's would be having people over for game night or doing some activity outdoors. Mike loves all things techy, and Heather loves all things creative. We can't wait to meet you on any given Sunday. Please come up and introduce yourself.

Jim & Patty

Custodian & Children's Director

Jim and Patty have been members of Bethel since their childhood and started dating in High School. They were married in 1974. They have two daughters and seven grandchildren.

Jim began working as the full-time custodian in 1987 at Bethel and considers it a great blessing to serve the Lord in this way.

Patty has always enjoyed children and realized her gift of working with them while on a mission trip in High School. She had a full-time childcare business in her home for ten years while raising their daughters and also worked in a public school for ten years teaching art and assisting as an instructional aide. During all this time she served in Bethel’s children’s ministry and was licensed as a minister.

In their free time, Jim likes watching reruns of old TV shows, and Patty loves time with the grandkids, cooking and gardening. Together, they dedicate themselves to serving God and sharing their home with others.

Kari

Worship Leader

Kari Behrendt, an accomplished pianist and vocalist, has been involved in worship music ministry since she was five years old. Having sung in traveling groups at a young age, as well as becoming a church pianist at the age of 12, making music within the church community is her passion and a blessing from the Lord. She loves to glorify God in such a beautiful way and is thankful to share this passion with many others who long to worship God through their musical talent. She received a Bachelor of Music degree from San Diego State University. She and her husband, Matthew, live in Escondido with their two talented teenage children.

Debbie

Church Administrator

Debbie is our church administrator and event manager and has been with Bethel for three years now. She loves serving God in her role as the administrator as well as discipling women in God's Word and helping others in various ministries. In Debbie's time off, she enjoys horses, traveling, and spending quality time with her husband and grand kids. Debbie is newly married to Bethel's drummer, JP, who first invited her to Bethel.
